HABIT 1 : BE PROACTIVE

Be Proactive is regarding taking responsibility for your life. you cannot keep blaming everything on your oldsters or grandparents. Proactive individuals acknowledge that they’re “response-able.” they do not blame genetics, circumstances, conditions, or acquisition for his or her behavior.They recognize they opt for their behavior. Reactive individuals, on the opposite hand, are typically affected by their physical surroundings. They notice external sources responsible for his or her behavior. If the weather is sweet, they feel smart. If it is not, it affects their perspective and performance, and they blame the weather. All of those external forces act as stimuli that we respond to. Between the input and the response is your greatest power–you have the liberty to decide on your response. one in every of the most vital things you select is what you say. Your language could be a smart indicator of how you see yourself. A proactive person uses proactive language–I can, I will, I prefer, etc. A reactive person uses reactive language–I cannot, I have to, if only. Reactive individuals believe they’re not accountable for what they are saying and do–they don’t have any alternative.

Instead of reacting to or worrying regarding conditions over that they have little or no control, proactive people focus their time and energy on things they’ll control. the issues, challenges, and opportunities we face represent 2 areas–Circle of Concern and Circle of Influence.

Proactive individuals focus their efforts on their Circle of Influence. They work on the items they’ll do one thing about: health, children, issues at work. Reactive folks focus their efforts within the Circle of Concern–things over that they have very little or no control: the national debt, terrorism, the weather. Gaining an awareness of the areas within which we tend to expend our energies in is a large step in changing into proactive.
